If there’s one word that can help you enjoy this month AND stay aligned with your goals, it’s this one:
Simple!
We’re going to be focusing on simple ways you can feel your best this July.
Like this eye opener:
Have you ever ordered a salad because you were "being good"... and then wondered why the scale wasn't moving?
You were doing everything right...
Or so you thought.
Here's something that might surprise you.
A McDonald's Big Mac has 550 calories. A typical restaurant Caesar salad can easily run 800 to 1,000 calories. 😱 (Sometimes even more!).
Same story with chopped salads, Cobb salads, Greek with extra feta and olives, and even the super-healthy-looking "harvest" salad with nuts and dried cranberries.
Healthy ingredients, but total calorie bombs.
The usual suspects are to blame:
Dressing: Two tablespoons of creamy dressing can add 150 to 200 calories... and you know that restaurants are not pouring two tablespoons. They're pouring four or more.
Extras: These look healthy, like avocado, nuts, dried fruit, croutons, and cheese. Each is a small addition that adds up to a big number when they are all piled on the same plate.
Portions: Restaurant salads are GIANT and it’s easy to eat two to three servings without realizing it.
This isn’t meant to demonize salads, because a well-built salad is one of the best things you can eat, especially in summer.
It just means building them smarter.
Here's a better approach:
Order dressing on the side and dip your fork instead of pouring. You'll use a fraction of the dressing and still taste it in every bite.
Pick ONE rich topping... cheese OR nuts OR avocado... not all three.
Add a solid protein source. Grilled chicken, salmon, hard-boiled eggs, or chickpeas. This turns your salad into a real meal instead of an appetizer that leaves you reaching for crackers an hour later.
You don’t have to eat a boring desk salad. A better idea: just be tactical about your ingredients!
That’s just one reason I created my 6-Week Kickstart Program... to help women over 40 navigating hormonal changes make informed decisions and help them reach their goals.
